The Manifesto: “STOP KILLING JOURNALISTS IN GAZA”/ «CONTRA EL ASESINATO DE PERIODISTAS EN GAZA»
Since the war in Gaza began in October 2023, at least 170 journalists and media workers have been killed, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ). The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate puts the number at 208.
On March 24, 2025, Hossam Shabat (Al Jazeera Mubasher) and Mohammed Mansour (Palestine Today), two young journalists, were killed in Israeli airstrikes. They were later labeled as “terrorists” by the Israeli military.
This is not the first time. And it won’t be the last if this deliberate strategy of silencing is not stopped.
Journalists in Gaza are being systematically targeted for doing their jobs. They report under constant bombardment, without protection, with movement restrictions, and no safe passage. Many have died while documenting the effects of the war on civilians. Others have lost their families, their homes, or their own lives simply for holding a camera.
From the outside, Israel blocks the entry of international press into Gaza. It doesn’t want witnesses. It doesn’t want us to report. It doesn’t want us to see.
As journalists, we cannot remain silent in the face of this reality. The killing of our colleagues is not only a personal tragedy: it is a crime against press freedom, a direct attack on the right to information, a threat to democracy.
We recall Article 79 of Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions, which states that journalists must be protected during armed conflicts, provided they take no part in hostilities.
We denounce:
– The impunity with which Palestinian journalists are being killed by Israeli forces.
– The deliberate attempt to silence what is happening in Gaza.
– The information blockade imposed by Israel.
– The indifference of the international community.
We demand:
– Immediate and unrestricted access for international journalists in Gaza.
– Effective protection for Palestinian journalists.
– An independent international investigation into the deaths of our colleagues.
– An end to the use of the word “terrorist” as a justification for killing journalists.
We are all victims of these crimes. Because they are also killing the right we all have to know the truth.
The collected signatures will be brougt to the Special Committee for Public Petitions in the Israeli Parliament or Knesset

Desde que comenzó la guerra en Gaza en octubre de 2023, al menos 170 periodistas y trabajadores de medios han sido asesinados, según el Comité para la Protección de los Periodistas (CPJ). El Sindicato de Periodistas Palestinos eleva la cifra a 208.
El 24 de marzo de 2025, Hossam Shabat (Al Jazeera Mubasher) y Mohammed Mansour (Palestine Today), dos periodistas jóvenes, murieron en bombardeos israelíes. Posteriormente fueron etiquetados como “terroristas” por el ejército israelí.
No es la primera vez. Y no será la última si no se detiene esta estrategia deliberada de silenciamiento.
Los periodistas en Gaza están siendo sistemáticamente atacados por las fuerzas israelíes, por hacer su trabajo. Informan bajo bombardeos constantes, sin protección, con restricciones de movimiento y sin refugios seguros. Muchos han muerto mientras documentaban los efectos de la guerra sobre la población civil. Otros han perdido a sus familias, sus hogares o sus propias vidas simplemente por llevar una cámara.
Mientras tanto, Israel bloquea la entrada de prensa internacional a Gaza. No quiere testigos. No quiere que informemos. No quiere que veamos.
Como periodistas, no podemos guardar silencio ante esta realidad. El asesinato de nuestros compañeros no es solo una tragedia personal: es un crimen contra la libertad de prensa, un ataque directo al derecho a la información, una amenaza a la democracia.
Recordamos el Artículo 79 del Protocolo Adicional I a los Convenios de Ginebra, que establece que los periodistas deben ser protegidos durante los conflictos armados, siempre que no participen directamente en las hostilidades.
Denunciamos:
-La impunidad con la que están siendo asesinados los periodistas palestinos por las fuerzas israelíes.
-El intento deliberado de silenciar lo que ocurre en Gaza.
–El bloqueo informativo impuesto por Israel.
–La indiferencia de la comunidad internacional.
Exigimos:
–Acceso inmediato y sin restricciones para periodistas internacionales en Gaza.
–Protección efectiva para los periodistas palestinos.
-Una investigación internacional independiente sobre la muerte de nuestros colegas.
-El fin del uso del término “terrorista” como justificación para asesinar periodistas.
Las firmas recogidas las enviaremos al Comité Especial de Peticiones Públicas del Parlamento israelí o Knesset.
Todos somos víctimas de estos crímenes. Porque también están matando el derecho que todos tenemos a conocer la verdad.
